Cathleen Danvers a.k.a. "The Red Witch" was a victim of the Salem witch trials who was executed by the town folk due to her evil practices of witch craft to people who crossed her. Cathleen had came from a long line of witches, originating all the way back to ancient Greece, where her and her ancestors would come from. Cathleen is a descendant of the women who threw Madam Venom into a pit of venomous snakes, and her and her family were constantly hunted by her. In defense against Madam Venom, Cathleen's family would seek help from the demon entity She-Deval, who would grant them powers to practice witchcraft to fight some of the deviant powers Madam Venom would use to try to assassinate the descendants of the women who caused her to be Madam Venom. In exchange, the witches would collect souls for her by engaging in deviant sexual behaviors with the men around town, forcing Cathleen to become a whore at an early age. The witches Cathleen grew up around was not very nice either, as they felt that they were cursed for having to deal with Madam Venom on many different occasions. Cathleen would endure many snake bites as a child, and this would prompt her to look for a place to relocate too. Eventually, Cathleen would relocate the Americas as a late teen to leave the hostile lifestyle of surviving Madam Venom.

Once Cathleen arrived to Salem in the Americas, she immediately saw an opportunity to use her witchcraft to manipulate men and sometimes help the local town folk. She would often trick men into giving her their resources to live off of by manipulating them into sleeping with her. She would also stumble upon a group of women who would also practice witchcraft and they would form a bond. Cathleen and the witches would go on to create an covenant to where witches from all over could come seek refuge and share some of the most powerful spells amongst each other for protection against people who didn't understand them. In the covenant, the witches associated themselves by color, with Cathleen becoming the "Red Witch" due to her lustful ways with men. The covenant consisted of the Green, Yellow, Red, Blue, Orange, Purple, and White witches as the main leaders of the covenant. The witches of the covenant led to them becoming very powerful within the town as an underground source for people to receive healing potions and cures to certain diseases. Cathleen, now the Red Witch, would use the healing potions to her advantage by blackmailing men after they would catch certain diseases from cheating on their wives with prostitutes of the town. This would cause jealousy and hatred from the men as they felt that the witches were becoming to powerful, particularly the Red Witch, who became one of the wealthiest witches in town, due to her black mailing the men in the town. The men, who were instrumental in leading the people into settling the town, would create laws against the witches that would prevent the people from going to the witches for assistance. Eventually, the witches would turn on Cathleen and confront her to stop blackmailing the men of the town. She would refuse, and the Covenant would allow her to be captured and beheaded in a public trial with other deviant witches who used their spells for evil.
 
Brought Back to Life

Due to her descendants making a deal with She-Deval, Cathleen would be brought back to life and given the Book of Evil to now cast spells. With this book, Cathleen would become immortal, and control the entire town, killing every male in the town, even children. The witches of the covenant would flee the town into the woods, eventually relocating down south as Cathleen grew too powerful to contain. Cathleen would control the town and starve the people of resources for a number of years, before finally having a run in with the Madam Venom, who had been looking to kill her and the rest of her descendants. With the Red Witch now being immortal, Madam Venom was unable to eliminate her, but she was able to banished her into the dark woods, semi freeing the town of Salem from her control. Madam Venom would try to assert control over the town herself but the area was too cold for her snakes to thrive. The Red Witch would go on to hunt down the rest of the members of the witches of the covenant, killing the Blue and Orange witches, who only relocated to the next town over. It would be hundreds of years before she would be able to locate the rest of the witches to kill them, as they would be found in a bayou of present day Louisiana, right after they recruited the "Black Witch."
